Hello and welcome to the Breakfast Raiders! (Breakfast Club on Alliance side)Īs our name suggests it, we are a morning raiding guild, founded prior to Shadowlands launch on Alliance side. You can do a search in these forums too to find lots of discussions going all the way back to beta.6/11 M Sepulcher - Progression on Dausegne. I don't really feel like hunting down more details on it, mostly just dead links now. I don’t have much contact with their engineers any more (the last code drop they took from us was about 3 years ago) so I can’t really speak to how much of our rendering technology is left in SW:TOR but I honestly don’t think there would be much." Because of the way they chose to convey combat and the graphical style, they clearly had to highly tailor the renderer for their own needs. That is normal for projects of that scale. "I am sure that BioWare had rooms full of engineers who customized the engine for their needs. BioWare is responsible for their own game, we gave them the tools. So, we can’t really give you any insight on how their game is performing in that way, and I’m sure they are working hard at improving any specific issues they are seeing. An engine is the first step, and then it’s up to the engineers and art directors to manage the technical steps necessary to implement their game design. Regarding SW:TOR, we have no way to know how they are handling graphics detail, shading, or other factors that impact frame rate. There have been some graphics changes over the years that a better GPU helps with, but even with a GTX 1080, i7 5770k 4.7ghz, 16gb Ram and SSD, I still have shadows off and other setting lower so I have less issues in pvp. You should also go into your windows power settings and under the CPU make sure it is always set at 100% (no throttling).Ī lot of the other problems you are experincing is the game itself. if you have a CPU that does that you can go into the Bios and set it so it doesn’t. If you are using CPU that throttles up and down above and below 4ghz, it will stutter. The higher the better because the game is more CPU intensive than GPU. ![]() I’m not sure what CPU you are using, but from using 8 different CPUs with this game since launch, I can tell you 100% that swtor loves speeds over 4ghz. It’s also a 32 bit program which limits it a lot. It’s possible it uses 2 cores, but not more than that. Thank you ahead of time for any further information!Īre you using a virtual core or a physical core? Swtor also runs two threads. regardless knowing the exact amount of cores the game utilizes will help me be able to accurately fine tune which is why I ask The game runs flawless for me minus when dismounting and the UI tabs that make me micro stutter which seems like a engine problem then a hardware problem on my end. So far the game has run best with me dedicating all cores and speed def isn’t my problem here for neither the GPU or cpu. The last 8 years or so and it’s using more cores now Id love to know and have whoever does give the information to have links to where they got the information so I know I’m getting authentic info, legitimizes via devs or extensive testing with the results. You’re the first person I’ve seen say it’s single core too, everywhere else back from 20 says it’s dual core using 2 cores only. So I’m lead to believe it IS using more then one core. Everything else at any time not doing those two things the game plays crystal clear and smooth. The only time I ever lag at all is opening certain UI and when I dismount. Soon as I let it use all cores it runs fine like before. ![]() When I do what you said which is dedicate it to one core my performance drops significantly even when SWTOR is the only program using that core. If anyone who answers is guessing though or is answering without having seen a direct response from a developer on this please say so I can separate educated guess from fact based from developer response. So that’s why I’m coming to the forums hopefully to get a player who knows or a developer. Does this games engine only provide the ability to use 2-4 cores or what is the set amount of cores used currently by the game? Is there a way for me to edit game files to allow full core utilization or any other means of doing that? Thank you for any help anyone can give I’m at a loss on trying to figure this out myself so haha.Īlso I have set everything both in my bios and further tweaking via OS programs to make sure all games (unlessnlimited by the game Engine) will utilize all CPUs fully, which they do, the exception being this game. It seems like it’s not utilizing all 8 cores. So my cpu seems to be performing underload playing with maximum settings both in game and through NVIDIA profile inspector.
