I'm about to get a TV tuner for my PC and that'll improved the visual quality over my boob tube. I need to fire up my CD32 since the game without the voices isn't an option IMO. It's been way too long since I've played this. Still, the fact that this game is so British with Barrie's influence makes it nearly as appealing to play as those Monkey ones. It's bettered by a wide margin by the Monkey Island games, that's just a fact for me anyway. It is darn good and looks better than similar PC games at the time, very lush color and appealing settings and characters. As for the game itself, I hesitate to go with my gut and call it a certified classic. In this game he makes the character very British and likable, and all the voices in the game quite funny to hear. When people think of fairy tales, they tend to envision beautiful princesses, charming princes, and happily-ever-afters. Barrie's voice skills impressed me from the first time I heard him mimicking other members of the RD cast. Eventually I became a megafan of that TV show and I've already watched my DVDs of Red Dwarf a half a dozen times each. I have many great memories of Simon!īetween buying this game for my CD32 and now, I learned that this guy doing the voice work in this game had a famous part in a TV show in Britian. Truly one of the most memorable games of my life. I went to a small school, there weren't a lot of students there, and pretty soon it seemed that half the kids were repeating the jokes and quotes to each other, without even knowing where the quotes first came from. In fact, I remember sharing some quotes and jokes from the game with a few schoolfriends many years ago. Great voice-overs, the actors do well to capture the characters' personalities and this makes the game even better.Īnd as for the humour? Love it. With a range of music, and no one track sounding out of place, the music is brilliant, and memorable too.Īnd this version comes with a full talkie soundtrack. Everything just looks great and it's all so pleasing to the eye. Pixel art to perfection, really stunning. The game itself is very long, and some puzzles aren't very logical, but the humour always keeps you going. Explore loads of scenes, and interact with a number of characters. Choose a verb, click on something on screen, watch how Simon reacts. The gameplay is not so different to the classic LucasArts adventures. There are so many awesome aspects to this game.
